Inside Mayim Bialik's toughest year ever after major Jeopardy! fan backlash, firing, and tragic loss

MAYIM Bialik has taken some hits in her career this year, experiencing hard times personally and professionally.

Former Jeopardy! host Mayim hasn't had the best of luck in 2023, but that could all turn around in the new year.

Backlash toward the TV star, 48, was rampant, happening this year and the year before.

Not only has she had to contend with haters, but she also had to cope with the passing of her close friend Leslie Jordan.

Jeopardy! fans started slamming the Blossom actress for hosting the beloved game show competition sluggishly after she became the full-time host in 2022.

The Mayim shade train persisted into 2023 and has yet to stop.

Over the last year, her on-air behavior has been constantly scrutinized and vilified.

This summer, Mayim angered Jeopardy! viewers when she completely wrote off contestant Tim Hagood's Final Jeopardy! answer.

Instead of attempting to read Tim's slightly illegible response, the used-to-be moderator ruled: "What is: Sorry I can't read that" in a clunky exchange.

This led Tim to clarify what he had written to her.

“What is: The Importance of-,” he told the host with a nervous laugh.

“What is The Importance of Being Ernest” she cut him off and responded. "That is not correct."

HOW RUDE!

The internet was quick to sound off on Mayim's breezy remark and lack of a stab at the player's actual response, some accusing she flat out didn't know the book he was referencing.

One YouTube user wrote: "Mayim said ‘What is:  I cannot read that’ in Final Jeopardy” with a cry-laugh emoji.

“So rude, ask what he wrote,” penned another.

“Unbelievable!! There's something she can't do???!! Say it ain't so!!!” bashed a third.

"Mayim Bialik clearly has never heard of The Importance of Being Earnest.

"You could see her react only after her producer said it in her ear during Final #Jeopardy. I say all the time that she is awful and has no business hosting," accused a fourth.

A fifth accused: "Anyone else notice the players run out of time more often to finish all of the clues while Mayim is the host versus when Ken hosts, or am I wrong to say that?" as this was the third game in a row with clues still left on the board.

"The difference in tempo between the games she hosts and the ones Jennings hosts is stark," wrote a sixth.

YOU'RE FIRED!

In December, Jeopardy! executive producers appeared to listen to game show fans, who were repeatedly urging online for Mayim to be fired.

Mayim announced on her Instagram account on December 15 that her time on Jeopardy! had ended.

She captioned her post: "Jeopardy! announcement."

The text-based message over a blue backdrop read: "As the Holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news.

"Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!."

Mayim continued: "I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the Jeopardy! family.

"For all of you who have supported me through this journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff of America's favorite quiz show, thank you."

Jeopardy! confirmed the news on their official Instagram page an hour after Mayim posted.

It read: "Mayim Bialik has announced she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!

"We have made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers.
